How can I connect my laptop to my tv?

I want to use my TV as a screen for my laptop, and Ive tried so many times to connect my laptop to my TV. However, I cannot still connect it. Please help me out.
My TV is ALBA LCD26 ADVD and My laptop is NEC Lavie LL700/V.
Im using a HDMI cable.
When I connect the cable and choose HDMI source on TV, it just shows "No video available".
I tried to press Fn key+F3 in order to change the screen mode, but still does not work.

The cable or TV may be corrupt . Try returning the HDMI cable, contacting ALBA or try contacting NEC. Hope this helped.
