Blue Ray Technology Should Be The Future For High Definition TV
Blue ray technology, the newest addition to the digital world has taken the DVD industry by storm. If you weren’t aware of the latest trends, you might be clueless about what I’m referring to. With the research and development programs carried out over several years, blue ray technology can be stated as the latest to hit the digital markets today. Sony, Toshiba and Hewlett Packard to name a few, has come up with the best devices anyone would love to own. With the highest storage capacity and superior quality, blue ray devices come with a range of features that are sure to enthrall the consumers with what the future holds for them.
Blue ray discs differ a lot from the traditional DVD that we all know. A blue laser is used to read and write data onto the disc. This is different from the red laser that is used for the standard DVD.
It is more commonly referred to as a high definition video and audio storage disc, which is true. But it is also a high capacity data storage disc. From Playstation, Xbox to modern personal computers and television sets this new blue ray technology is being welcomed by hundreds of consumer manufacturers like Sony, apple, Panasonic, HP, etc.
All discs that use blue ray technology are geared and capable of producing high definition video and audio. This will provide consumers with an unprecedented experience while watching a movie or listing to their favorite artist. Home theatre has never been better. The traditional theatre may become the latest endangered species of the world because of blue ray technology.
That is not all. Blue ray technology comes with a whole pack of benefits. With regard to storage space, a single-layer blue ray disc has the ability of storing around 25GB and a dual-layer disc stores around 50GB. That’s almost five times higher than what a normal DVD would store. This is of course bound to expand more and more in the years to come.
Professionals who want to carry large amounts of data from place to place find blue ray discs and other devices very useful. Movie lovers can now watch so many movies just by using only one blue ray disc with a 25GB capacity. All these devices has made life much easier for many people around the world.
Now that manufacturers are keen on distributing the blue ray technology around the world you may get a blue ray disc player in your living room any time soon. Blue ray technology is here to stay and for a long time too. Just the other week The Hobbit Movie blog claimed that the long awaited Lord of the Rings on Blu ray will be available this Summer. There's your excuse to buy one!
Pioneer intros smallest, lightest Blu-ray burner (Albuquerque Journal)
The Pioneer BDR-XD04J.
Pioneer's new BDR-XD04J contains a mind-numbing array of disc burning and
playback options that should cover you for the next several years.
Perhaps the biggest highlight is support for BDXL BD-R discs, which means you
can burn those fancy triple-layer 100GB and quad-layer 128GB Blu-ray discs in
a tiny package. This is supposed to be the world's smallest BDXL-compatible
portable drive.
Maximum burn speeds for Blu-ray discs are as follows: 6x BD-R/-R DL (TL, QL at
4x), 2x BD-RE/-RE DL, and 2x BD-RE XL/TL.
DVD disc burn speeds include 8x DVD-R, 6x DVD-R DL, 6x DVD-RW, 8x DVD+RW, and
5x DVD-RAM. There are also 24x burning speeds available for CD-R/RW discs.
The USB 2.0 compatible drive weighs 8.46 ounces, and is about 5.2 inches wide
with a depth of about half an inch. It's nice to see that the drive can be
powered through USB, and also can be used as a USB boot drive for computers
that support such functionality.
We will undoubtedly see more of this "little engine that could" when it debuts
next month at CES. It has a suggested price of 18,000 yen ($230).
