How To Pick Your Ideal Xbox 360
I have been after a games console for quite a while yet and still haven't taken the plunge of exchanging my hard earned money for one at my local gaming retailer. After the recent hubbub involving the theft of personal data from the PS3 network, I have decided that I should buy myself a 360 console from Microsoft!
It can be hard selecting your Xbox considering that there are a number of different system set ups to choose from - annoying when you simply want a console on which you can have a bash at Duke Nukem Forever Balls of Steel editionwhen it is released in September!
The 360 Core System is white shelled and is notable for missing wireless controllers. If you want to save your game progress and downloaded in game content (and you probably do), you should remember that Core does not included the 256 MB memory unit. The 360 Arcade package eventually replaced the Core option as the basic Xbox package which does come with the necessary 256 MB memory unit, as well as wireless controller set up and the benefits of Xbox Live Silver.
360 Premium comes with everything in the Arcade package and more besides, including a 20 gigabyte portable hard drive for storing data of all varieties, a head set, HD AV cable, Xbox Live Silver and a free trial of the Gold version. A 360 Elite system is the essential kit for Xbox fans, comprising a sleek black casing and is HD compatible - games graphics have never looked so good!. Elite is also bundled with the previously mentioned peripherals and Xbox Live trials, in addition to a large 120 GB external drive!
I have been meaning to buy a hard drive for ages now and this means that I think that the Premium 360 package is the one that would be most suitable. I am hoping I will have an Xbox in time to play the LA Noire game when it is released and am almost certainly going to pre Order NCAA Football 12.
The Janus Tree and Other Stories by Glen Hirshberg (sfsite)
For those in the know, a new horror collection from Glen Hirshberg is cause
for hopeful anticipation. And this one delivers with a striking and enjoyable
mix of stories that showcases his uniquely personable brand of horror, in
which external menaces are eclipsed by the inner demons that drive our deepest
fears. The unifying theme for all the stories is death: thwarting it, defying
it, accepting it, transcending it -- a black narrative thread that he weaves
in some unusual ways.
